Want to enjoy some fun on the water and support local businesses and the High Country’s state parks? Check out the fun New River Canoe Race slated for June 3, 2017 from 9 am to 4 pm. The New River’s waters are calm and inviting; perfect for a canoe race! The race registration will begin at Zaloos Canoes and take place from 9 am to 1 pm. The entry to the race will be on the New River access point at the Wagoner Access at the New River State Park. The sponsor of this event is the Friends of the High Country State Parks. Bring your own boat or rent one from Zaloos at a discounted rate on this day! Free shuttle service will be available from parking areas.
Activities will include live music, food and food trucks, environmental programs and an awards ceremony with fun door prizes. There will be free tubing at the park, and camping will be available for those who want to camp out nearby. All proceeds will support High Country State Parks. This event is a family friendly Ashe County event.
