Lansing’s famous former resident, Ola Belle Reed Campbell was born in 1916 and lived until 2002. Reed’s music frequently was about her life in Appalachia and the traditions of mountain people. Her best-known songs went on to be recorded by country artists such as Marty Stuart, Del McCoury and Tim O’Brien. One of her most famous songs was “High on a Mountain”.

The festival highlights the best of the bluegrass traditional music that is played in our area and pays homage to singers and young songwriters that are up and coming. Musicians join together during this time to learn from each other and enjoy old fashioned jam sessions.
