The cities of Jefferson, West Jefferson and Sparta offer the usual amenities that come with a small town, and the rest of the area is mostly a vast, unspoiled wonderland of timber, game, and plentiful views.

If you have never visited Ashe County and our section of the Blue Ridge Mountains, we invite you to come and explore our mountains. There is so much to offer in our region. If you are searching for a mountain cabin, this location is really unlike any other.

We have boundless opportunities for outdoor recreation, and are surrounded by several federal and state protected areas including The Blue Ridge Parkway, the Jefferson National Forest, the American Heritage River – the New River, Mount Jefferson State Natural Area, the Appalachian Trail, Mount Rogers (the highest mountain peak in the state of Virginia), Stone Mountain State Park, and Pond Mountain Game Lands.

If you would rather enjoy some rest and relaxation instead of outdoor exploration, our region of the mountains is filled with quiet, serene locations and many homes come with a few acres of land that you can enjoy. If cultural pursuits are more your style, you will enjoy the culture of our area with its rich history in mountain music, all types of arts and unique mountain crafts like weaving.
